I am writing to you on this special day to let you all know how thankful I am for the important teachings you have brought to me, for your friendship, for our time together at the Nurturing the Roots gatherings. I truly hope it won't be too long before I see you all again. This past August I began working again, after spending time just being a mom, taking care of my two year old son Feliciano. I managed to get a great part-time job teaching drawing and painting to primarily teenagers and some adults at a government sponsored cultural/ school for the arts. I am also working on the possiblity of teaching nature awareness to children and teenagers at one of the parks here in Manaus. More news on that at the beginning of 2003. Enjoyed the website and the information about your staff. However, I found the contrast between print and background difficult to read through. This is often a problem for others with visual difficulties and others based onthe quality of the computer they have. Dear John, Nancy, Jade, Kainoa, and India, Here is one of your long lost Nurturing the Roots participants writing to say that Saul (my husband) , Feliciano (my son), and I are moved into the home we built here in Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil, right on the Rio Negro. Tai and Satara stayed with us in early June. We are all doing well and in good health. Feliciano is now a year and a half old and very cute. Do you all have a personal e-mail address that I can write to with more of an update and to which I can send some photos of Feliciano? Please write back letting me know that you received this note. Due to New Jersey's density and materialistic culture, we are struggling to defend what little remains of Nature here. It is a war worthy of a peaceful warrior. Our son Ryan 18, id losst in our society, not being able to cope with curriculm demands and is drowning. We are divorce parents and Ryan lives with his father. I attended Hawkeye training camp in New Mexico for about 8-9 years when I was a boy. I have drifted out of contact over the past 4-5 years with John, the boys and the camp.
