Dear John, Nancy, Jade, Kainoa, and India as well as all the Tracking Project Staff, Today is Thanksgiving Day! I am writing to you on this special day to let you all know how thankful I am for the important teachings you have brought to me, for your friendship, for our time together at the Nurturing the Roots gatherings. I truly hope it won't be too long before I see you all again. This past August I began working again, after spending time just being a mom, taking care of my two year old son Feliciano. I managed to get a great part-time job teaching drawing and painting to primarily teenagers and some adults at a government sponsored cultural/ school for the arts. I am also working on the possiblity of teaching nature awareness to children and teenagers at one of the parks here in Manaus. More news on that at the beginning of 2003. Please keep me on the newsletter list. Did you get the email and photos that I sent this past August? Many thanks again for all your good work. Sending much aloha and saudades-- Caroline

Enjoyed the website and the information about your staff. However, I found the contrast between print and background difficult to read through. This is often a problem for others with visual difficulties and others based onthe quality of the computer they have. Please consider changing the print font to white or a light yellow to make it easier to read. Thanks

Francis Weller 11540 Sunnyside Ave, Forestville, CA 95436 I wrote you a while back John regarding your coming to California for a workshop. You suggested that I write a little later in the year. I am eager to speak with you about this. I have an organization called WisdomBridge (website will be up in a couple of weeks) that is focused on the recovery of the indigenous soul. I have been teaching with Malidoma Some for the past 7 years and am now focusing much more on the traditional ways combined with ritual as a means of settling us into the land. Let me know if you are interested or simply full with life as it is. I send you love and blessings, Francis Weller

Dear John, Nancy, Jade, Kainoa, and India, Here is one of your long lost Nurturing the Roots participants writing to say that Saul (my husband) , Feliciano (my son), and I are moved into the home we built here in Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil, right on the Rio Negro. Tai and Satara stayed with us in early June. We are all doing well and in good health. Feliciano is now a year and a half old and very cute. Do you all have a personal e-mail address that I can write to with more of an update and to which I can send some photos of Feliciano? Please write back letting me know that you received this note. I also want to send you all my updated address and telephone numbers to be able to continue receiving the newsletter. The web site is beautiful!! What an inspiration and QUE SAUDADES (how I miss the project and the Nurturing the Roots gatherings). We now have the internet and e-mail at home. With much love and aloha from Caroline

John/Greg: Glad to see that you have a website. I'm still hiking and working for the Earth. Due to New Jersey's density and materialistic culture, we are struggling to defend what little remains of Nature here. It is a war worthy of a peaceful warrior. Although I am involved on many fronts, the BEAR Campaign demands the most attention as the state government insists on exterminating the local Bears. Any advice or support that you can give is appreciated. Hope to see you sometime in the near future. Yes, we met at Omega. Your course was enlightening. What we don’t talk to, we don’t understand. What we don’t understand, we fear. What we fear, we destroy. (Aboriginal proverb)

Well, I am exhilarated that you are doing what you are doing. A friend told me about you and gave me your newsletter. Trying to preserve wild lands can be frustrating at times when you see every place you love developed and buried under concrete. I guess my point is to thank you, and I look forward to joining with you and learning from you in the near future.

Dear Mr.Stokes, Thank you for coming with us on the Big Isalnd camping trip. I really enjoyed myself when we were hiking Kilauea Iki. I really learned alot about the native plants that you pointed out to us. It was fun having you at the camp with us because your funniest made my learning very easier. I hope to see you again in the future, but not when we are going on a hike Dear Ms.Maeshiro, Thank you for coming with Mr.Stokes to the Big Island camping trip. I think both of you guys worked hard. It was fun to take you and John Stokes along on the trip. It was cool having you in our cabin house. The last night, 1 cabin room of 212 was up so late, that we went to sleep at around 12:00 when we had to go to sleep at 10:00, but that is a secret. No 6th grade teacher knows that. -Malie Arnold-From Rm.212 P.S.- I hope you guys are ready to read 24 letters because our class is writing letters to both of you guys.

I enjoyed your website. While I was in your website the rest of the class was watching your video and doing the potions. I can't wait till tommorow when the Kamehameha 6th grade takes a hike with you.
